Is there a comprehensive user manual for the Bat anywhere?, It's taking me a long time to find all the information...

I just recently purchased the program, and I am having a hard time finding out how to use a lot of the features in the Bat.  I find that there is very minimal information in the help file that comes with the program.  In fact, when I try to see what various checkboxes and stuff do, I go to the help file which shows a screenshot of the particular dialog box and no explanation for anything.  So, I don't find it particularly helpful.

So, I've been spending the last few days just searching for information in FAQ's, this forum, etc.  But since I am new, and I have a lot of questions, it's taking a long time, a lot longer than it should.  Most programs like this have a detailed user manual where we can search for keywords and stuff without having to sift through a large user forum.  Does anything like that exist?

Actually, the current help file is a big improvement compared to the old one.
But there's also the online FAQ (http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/tbfaq.html), accessible via TB's help menu, even though it's not run by Ritlabs and the TB WIKI: www.PCWize.com/thebat/tbudp
And naturally there's the knowledge base on the Ritlabs site.

There are also a variety of mailing lists that offer support for TB, see:

As an experienced mail and bat user I consider most options you can pick rather straight forward, though I realize it can be difficult to find a specific option when there are so many.

OK, thanks, that helps a little.  I also found a message saying that the help file was being worked on and it's a work in progress right now.  So that should be good.

I should also say that I can't figure out how to navigate through messages without using the preview pane (I don't like using preview panes).  I wrote a message for it in another thread, but I don't know if anyone read it.  The follow next/previous buttons don't seem to follow the sorting order that I've set to each mailbox.

The Bat! v3.65.03 includes the manual (called by pressing F1 button), isn't it?

Yes, it does.  I think it's better than I initially gave credit for, sorry.  What I was confused about at first was when I clicked the Help button while in preferences and it opens the help file and shows a screenshot of the preferences dialog I'm currently at.  There's a screenshot, but nothing else as far as an explanation.  How does that help me?  Usually, programs have a little question mark button next to the close button in the upper right hand corner, and if you click on it and then click on a checkbox or option in the preferences dialog, it will give a little balloon explanation of that option.

But it's ok, as long as I can find the information somewhere in that help file.

But, I still have a question about message navigation which no one will answer for some reason.  I've posted a separate thread about it, I've asked people in other forums, and no one will answer.  I even asked it in this thread.  Here I go again:

How do I navigate through a mailbox according to the way I've sorted it?  I don't want to go to the next unread message, I simply want to go down the list as I've sorted it.  For example, if I've sorted the list using the "From" column, and I double-click a message to open it in a separate window, how do I go to the next message according to the "From" sort that I'm using.  Remember, I'm not using message preview.  I know you can do it using the up/down button while in preview mode, but is there something similar when I have the message open in it's own window?  Any answer is appreciated.

Where can I find a Manual for the current
BAT PRO.....can I see it before I BUY ?

it really doesn't seem possible to navigate messages in a separate window in their message list sort order (at least in v3.85 that I'm using).
Maybe re-arranging panes will make it more convenient for you, try
View -> Window split mode -> Full height preview pane
