New "Feature Request" forum?, What's the best way to request a new feature/improvement?

Would it help to create a new forum here for new feature requests/improvements? Do any of the programmers actually read the forums?

Or, would the best way be to email them? I think a forum would allow others to see what's been requested and would be more visible.

The best way to state your wishes is to add them to the wishlist. (As has been stated repeatedly on this forum.)

You can insert wishes in the wish list, by logging in to:
https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/main_page.php
Choose 'The Bat! wishes' and add a new item.
First check whether someone has made the same wish, then you can
support that wish.
Wishes that are supported by more users are more likely to be granted
than wishes by one. And the system isn't smart enough to understand
that wishes might be the same.
And add just one wish per entry. Makes everything easier, both for
other users who want to add support and for the developers.

How exactly do you "support" a wish? All I did was added a note saying I wanted the feature also. Is that all that's needed?

Perhaps the reason the question is asked (and answered) so frequently is because there is no link to the "Wish List" from anywhere you might reasonably expect to find it.

The list itself is actually labelled RITLabs Issues and Bugs Tracking System which implies that it is the place to report and track bugs and issues, not submit requests for new/changed features.

Yes

The same system is used both to tack bugs and wishes, just like the same forum software is used both for configuration and templates issues. Not so very strange. When you're having issues with the setup of the Ritlabs site I suggest that you take that up with Ritlabs. See for addresses: http://www.ritlabs.com/en/about/contacts.php

I agree. I knew about the bug tracking system but didn't think it would include a wishlist. A link or a "sticky" on the forum homepage would be a great help. I did a quick scan of the first few pages of the wishlist and supported a few of them. I'm sure if more people knew about it, there would be alot more support for existing requests.

What specific email address would you recommend? Or which has a better chance of getting issues addressed?

The address for support, general, sales or journalists?

Support, I guess. After all it is a support matter.
