Feturerequest: Remind on unanswered email

For us at our company (and surely for a lot of users), it would be helpful, if you can set an option while creating a new message something like "remind me on this email in 7 days, if it's still unanswered".

All (most?) informations and features are available in TheBat! but not in this "useable" format.

I think, it's really often, that you mail a problem to a person and expect for the answer in e.g. a week. Now, you must remember that email and have a look for this yourself - or set up this AFTER you sent the email (that is, going to the sent folder, searching for the message, select it, and set up the reminder).

Or is this option yet implemented and I don't see it?

Is there a work-around available - e.g. with Templates/Actions... ?!?

Best regards

 steff

I didn't try this, but I guess there is a possibility to trigger the "remind later" action from a filter - as it's more over possible to make a scheduled re-filtering, you should have everything you need:

- make a filter which looks for a certain age of the message and if it's older than say 6 days puts it on "remind later" for the next day

- make a scheduler entry which re-filters every day

pls let us know if that (or sth similar) works when you tried ...

Hmm... I think sorting office is enough.
why you need reiltering?

w/o re-filtering you'd have to set up such a one-week reminder for every incoming mail at once - that would do the job but it also fills up your scheduler... at least with many incoming mails you probably wouldn't find anything you manually added in between if you're actively using that function, too... and hopefully you do not need the reminders for most of the mails

that's why I thought of making an entry only for already aged mails, but to do this you have to re-filter (but as I said that's just theory, I didn't try)

Agree.
But what about another solution:
Virtual folder

Nice idea - but so EVERY mail is shown in the folder - and because I write for about 25-50 mails a day, this would be very complex.

Perhaps, I can use a FastTemplate with a hotkey, which set some values (in the header, parked or something similar) and check for this in the filter?!?
I will try this in the next days ...

OK. next variation:
Filter in VirtualFolder is "Age is greater than 7 days"
If any messages are here - they are dead.

Filter in Virtual sub-Folder is "Age is greater than 5 days and "Age is less than 7 days"
This messages are like urgent to answer.

Hmm...
As I remember, in older versions age is refreshed rarely than other conditions (age changed but only calculated when it needed) . So you may be need refresh this folder manually some times per day. Or autorefresh it when TheBat is starting (do not store state).

PS. Sorry for bad english.

PSS. To get subject using Quick templates is too sofisticated IMHO.

more over you could activate the message ticker for this folder :)

however: this would still depend on the user to actively look into it...

maybe flag outgoing mails + look for corresponding "in-reply-to" headers in incoming mails and delete the flag in the original outgoing message - then regularly look for still flagged sent messages... (again... just theory... not tested)
