Closing Bat faster, Getting The Bat! to compress files and close quickly

I have tens of thousands of emails in about 20 accounts.  There are at least four accounts that have at least 20,000 emails in them.

Every time I close the program, it takes over my PC (which is powerful) and prevents me from minimizing The Bat! AND from seeing the desktop AND from doing anything else without great effort and at a slow speed.  It can take 3-5 minutes for The Bat! to complete this operation and I am wondering why it needs to be so slow!

Is there a way to make it close in 3-5 seconds, not minutes?!

Thanks!

this is probably because TB performs some operations on exit, like compressing folders.
Right click each folder(or at least biggest ones), select Properties, click 'Additional' on the left, and uncheck the 'On exit' options ('Remove..' and 'Compress..') - now it should exit faster.
You can perform these operations manually from time to time via 'Folder' -> 'Maintanence center' menu.

I'm not sure what versions of The Bat include
'Scheduler' (alt + F11), but an additional option for
you is to set up a task for folder maintenence. It
could run automatically at the end of each day or
during your lunch hour. You can set it to warn you
before it starts so you can cancel it if need be, and
choose to run missed events (if the computer was off
at the time it was due to run, for example).

The only small thing missing for scheduler I'd like
to see, is a 'execute task if computer has been idle
for N minutes' option. But apart from that it's an
awesome feature!

I have this same problem, although I've got The Bat! set to not compress any folders on exit.  It started a couple of releases ago, and was really bad prior to this last release.  Things have sped up somewhat with 3.80, but still an almost instant exit like it used to be.  Frequently, The Bat! will close all of its windows, and look like it's closed down, but it will still be sucking up CPU time if you check the task manager.

Dale,

Are you using an antispam plugin (with a large dictionary)?
That might account for this.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I just checked, though, and I don't have any plugins enabled in The Bat!

It is odd the way The Bat! takes a long time to close though, now that I think of it.  It is mainly using up CPU time, and not accessing the disk very much.  I don't think it's compressing folders when this happens, but I'm not sure what else it might be doing.
