Opening Acrobat attachment, The Bat won't remember the program to open pdf files

When I go to open a *.pdf file attched to an E-mail I get the usual prompt that "opening of this file is potentially dangerous, etc ...". Is there a way to turn off this warning?

Also, when I do agree to open the file I always get the prompt coming up asking me to chose the program I want to open the file with. The only pdf viewer I have installed is Adobe Acrobat Reader and even if I tick the box "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file", it never seems to remember this and the next time I go to open a pdf file attached to an E-mail I have to go through the same procedure. Why does The Bat do this when saved pdf files open automatically with Acrobat.  Any adviced appreciated.

Options -> Preferences  -> Protection
Add  ,*.pdf to the 'Allow opening of these files without alert:' field. (the preceeding comma is needed as separator)

I can't reproduce that. Over here TB opens .pdf files with the acrobat reader.
Does this mean that whe you have an .pdf attachment you don't see the acrobat reader icon?
What version of TB are you using?

Thanks so much Roelof. The options/preferences/protection suggestion you offered fixed my first problem.

And then I though about your answer to my second question and thought I would uninstall, then re-install Acrobat Reader. Well that fixed my second problem. So all is working just fine now and there never was a problem with The Bat, but rather with me!

Regards, Chris

This is not a problem only with PDF files. It seems to be a problem with all non-standard files, or opening files with programs installed PRIOR to installing TheBat!

Example:
opening .AVI lounches the dialog "Open with...". I select BSPlayer, tick "Remember", and it opens in BSPlayer.
But next time TheBat! asks again "Open with..."
BUT
if I select "Open with..." Windows Media Player, TheBat REMEMBERS selection and does not ask again!

INTERESTING is, that .AVI file already has BSPlayer icon in the email message preview panel, but despite of that still asks with which program to open.
Also, if I click AVI file in explorer, it opens by default with BSPlayer.
Same is for MPEG, MP3, and MPG files.

I scanned all the settings and all files in TheBat folder to find some settings, but I found nothing.

@ Andreas

i've got a new problem kind of similar: since a few days back, if i try to open an html file from the bat, it opens it with the notepad! i'd like to point the .html attachement back to Firefox but can't find where to do this !

You can set file associations in the windows explorer.
Find a file with the .html extension -> right mouse button -> open with -> pick program -> select the program and check 'always open this file with this program'
As I don't run an Eglish Windows I'm not sure about the precise labels. ;-)

true, but the file association on my PC is correct, yet not working on The Bat!.

maybe that asks for a reinstall of the bat...
