This has been going on all weekend, since I downloaded this new CHRISTMAS version! 3.95.6. Never had THIS  problem with any other edition.

More info...
This is NOT a problem ONLY to Gmail!
I am getting 4.3.0 and 4.3.2 errors trying to send to lots of different email servers!

How hard is it to rollback to thebat_home_3-85-03.msi?
Do I need to uninstall the defective version or can the older version go right on top?
Thanks

Undelete the new version and install the old version.

Before you uninstall the new version export the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT tree in your registry.

Close TB
Start Regedit
Export HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT
Close Regedit
Uninstall TB 3.95.6
Start Regedit
Import HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT again
Close Regedit
Install TB 3.85.03

This procedure will remember your preferences.

Hmmm I am on 3.95.6 and have never had trouble polling several Gmail accounts - with any of the versions

ack! I am not a happy camper :(
I uninstalled thebat, then removed the backed up key from the registry. I rebooted installed the older version, reinstalled the reg key and rebooted. I opened the new 'old' TB, then installed the backed up files and folders and addy book.
Went to do a test on gmail and this is what I got :
1/3/2007, 11:59:53: SEND  - sending mail messages - 1 messages in queue
1/3/2007, 11:59:53: SEND  - connected to SMTP server
1/3/2007, 11:59:54: SEND  - Server reports error. The response is: 4.3.0 Please try again later
1/3/2007, 11:59:54: SEND  - WARNING: there were no compatible authentication mechanisms detected
1/3/2007, 11:59:54: SEND  - sending message to myaccount1@gmail.com
!1/3/2007, 11:59:54: SEND  - Server reports error. The response is: 4.3.2 Please try again later
1/3/2007, 11:59:54: SEND  - connection finished - 0 messages sent
1/3/2007, 11:59:54: SEND  - Some messages were not sent - check the log for details

Should I try another clean re-install without the registry backup? Is it possible the problem was carried over through that backed up file?
NEXT?! Back to the drawing board!

=======================
OK, It's now a few hours later than when I posted the message above, and I again uninstalled TB problem version, and reinstalled it without using the key that I saved from the registry. It seems that the problem is carried thru the registry entry.
Starting clean, using my backed up files was a perfect, simple fix!
Thank you! :)

A new discovery made...hummmm!
After going throught all that BS installing and reinstalling... again I received that 4.3.0 and 4.3.2 errors. There was something that I noticed that ALL of the emails that had that problem had in common. If you notice, There is a name, followed by the email addy surrounded by "<>". If I remove the name The Bat! The email WILL send with NO errors. I tried enclosing the name with "", and it did not make a difference.
The Bat! <ritlabs-news@maillist.ritlabs.com>

Is there a way to fix this? Now that I know what the problem is!
<ritlabs-news@maillist.ritlabs.com>  WORKS!
ritlabs-news@maillist.ritlabs.com   WORKS!
The Bat! <ritlabs-news@maillist.ritlabs.com> DOES NOT WORK!

Odd, I've even seen names with a dot without " around it (and that's an illegal construct) get through gmail just fine. Can't explain it.
