BUG: CREATING COLOR COATED FOLDERS \\ ORGANIZING EMAIL, I have spent the last 5 hours trying to recover lost e-mail. I give.

I'm using The Bat Pro v.3.95.6.

I have created many folders, within the Inbox. And everytime I exit the Bat, and return, I find that a lot of mail is missing, including very important account information, etc.

If you would like to see how much work I put into it, check this out:

My name is Bryan Miller, and that is my personal domain. I'm guessing why this occurs is because the save file is too large or something, so it just loses data randomly. It's been happening all day. I've rebooted several times, backed up, restored, etc. I'm intelligent with computers, but there is obviously something very wrong and  now I'm lost.

What do I DO?

I've always been a huge fan of The Bat! and just recently have I taken the effort to truly customize it the way I want. I'm extremely discouraged; The last thing I want is to switch to Outlook or something. Please someone contact me...

Do you guys think it's because I utilized too many color schemes at once? And too many messages backed up? I went thru most of the settings, and it doesn't automatically destroy e-mail.

I'm flustered. Anyone offer a helping hand?

While you structure of folders and customizations is more that mine you do not have a lot of emails. By comparison  my main folder has over 20000 and my total backup is over 400M.

Your symptoms act like corrupted TBB files (database).

Have you run the folder maintenance utilities?
Outside of The Bat, can I assume that you have run the usual things, anti-virus, anti-spyware, registry-cleaner, etc?

Once everything is "clean" maybe a complete delete including registry and then a clean install and restore might help.

If entire folders disappeared (as the picture you provided says), check if they still exist on your disk.

Inside your mail folder (default is <TB_install_dir>\Mail\ I think), there should be a subfolder for each account. Inside account subfolders, you should have the same physical folder structure as the folder structure you created in TB.
If the physical folders exist, try to create a new folder in TB, at the same place and with the same name as the physical one. After restarting it, it should display the folder and the messages inside.

Are any of these folders virtual?

Ive had bizarre problems with virtual folders since upgrading to Xmas Edition.

Initially, a new message which I *knew* ought to be a appearing in a virtual folder, simply wasn't visible there. After running various searches to try and see what was wrong, eventually I clicked the virtual folder and all messages disappeared.

I deleted and recreated the virtual folder and all was fine after that (so far).

Thankfully it was a virtual folder, and not a real one, but Im gradually losing confidence in the latest version of The Bat every day :(

> within the Inbox

I've been led to believe that this is generally bad practice in any email client and is a surefire way of eventually corrupting your inbox and losing emails.

Especially with that amount of folders, personally I would have created them outside of the inbox. My mail is filtered immediately into other folders, so the inbox is always empty.
