Purchase 3.99.3??, Free upgrade to a v4+?

Hello,

I'm in day 24 of my 30 day trial.  Time is very short.  Over these 24 days, the software has functioned flawlessly and I decided to purchase.  I hadn't given much thought to software versions when I arrived at The Bat!'s website this morning, intent upon purchase.  Hold!!  Let's send a message to those "Bat! Coding Folk", I thought, asking if a purchase now would entitle free access to the v4+ series.  It was then I discovered one cannot email the "Bat! Coding Folk" unless one has already purchased the software and registered at the website .. how sweet.

Searching messages here, I see I'm not the first to ask this, as yet unanswered, question.

So, I now also ask.  And, here is what I am prepared to do.

I'll check here daily for a reply.

Should I receive positive indication here that V4 updates will be honored (free), I will purchase "Bat! Pro".

Should my trial expire without positive indication, I will convert my mail back to Outlook.  I will trial/purchase (possibly even find a free offering) some other Outlook replacement.  I will not buy "Bat! Pro".

A promise .. not to be confused with a threat.

Thanks.

Here is the contact page
I would contact sales at least and cc the general office email

http://www.ritlabs.com/en/about/contacts.php

They support it but it isn't their strongest suit, but that is a legitimate question especially since v4 will be out any time

Appreciate the quick reply and the contact link, Rick.

I've done as you suggested.

I hope the response is positive and in time.

Thanks.

Rick, I have asked elsewhere in this forum if the next version of TB! will support HTML natively.  I have no reply.

You mention that v4. will be out soon.  Is there a known schedule?  What will it contain?  Or is your comment based on the fact the v3. series is about to run out of digits?

Really would like to know what we can expect from the TB! in the future.  I am on Day 22 of my trial and need to decide if I should switch our office to the TB!

I agree with Bubba that TB! needs to clean up its "web presence" act.  I know potential users whom I have pointed to TB! but have decided against trying it due to the "home brew" appearance of the web site.

Maybe a calender would be a good idea.  I would urge a cooperation with ZYB.com or SCRYBE.com

There will be a press release with upgrade policy published soon.

>There will be a press release with upgrade policy published soon.

this is simply not serious.
Your upgrade policy for all possible upgrade scenarios must be well known and available on your site, not something to be revealed in a 'coming soon' press releases.
The gentleman above asks a very simple question(that I've seen many many times here) which may only have a Yes or No answer. If you haven't decided yet what's the answer, this is even less serious.

I've been always truly amazed by the huge contrast between the quality of theBat app (which is unquestionable, IMO the best mail client since years) and the quality of everything else related to it.
By related I mean mainly the help file and especially the website, which can hardly be less informative and awfully organized.
Site, help, bugtrack system, mailing lists etc. etc. - all these make theBat look like some poor open source project from the late 90's, and I guess rejects many potential customers (especially corporate customers).

I'm afraid it is. I think they give 30% off however there should be a grace period but they don't seem to be forthcoming with that for some reason.

As for HTML you can't read it natively in The Bat. If you open the "message.html" file attachment it will open the email in your browser

That is the super-safe way to do it so you don't accidentally verify yourself to a spammer. I personally would like to make that choice myself but honestly, that hasn't been a major irritant.

Hi Thomas,

Well, as for me offering any constructive "web presence" criticism in my original post .. possibly you've confused me with another poster. He offered, what I thought an excellent point, the observation that their site has the appearance of "lads playing at running a business", or something close.  Indeed, as bigg one said: "I've been always truly amazed by the huge contrast between the quality of theBat app (which is unquestionable, IMO the best mail client since years) and the quality of everything else related to it. I couldn't agree more.  Though I'm new to the software, my initial time spent knocking around the website almost caused me to not even trial.  Then, upon experiencing Bat's rock solid, flawless operation .. returning to the site amazes even more.  What a contrast!  So much for my "constructive" side.

Rick: I returned to, again, thank you.  With days to spare, yesterday, I got this reply email to my query about licensing;

From: Ina <dina@ritlabs.com> (Ritlabs)

The soon coming fourth version of The Bat! will be free for those who have purchased version 3.xx.

While my question, specifically, asked about free access to the -entire- v4 series .. and, though one might technically "split hairs" with this reply, taking it to maybe mean just the initial v4 update would be free .. rather than pursue clarification, I purchased Pro tonight.
