Bat will not start, Stack overflow

I've been using Bat for years and was very happy with it's speed and robustness.

Something strange happened recently - it refused to start.

The only thing I remember doing was killing off my Notes application and agreeing to a MS security upgrade.

The message I keep getting from the ex_log file is

"tbmain:StartThebat EStackOverflow Stack overflow"

I tried uninstalling and installing.  Renaming the old Bat directory, upgrading to the latest version.  Short of installing in a brand new computer - what should I do?

Any help much appreciated as I have over 5 years of emails archived in Bat.

I would shut the bat down
Drag the mail folders to somewhere like the desktop so you have them

See if the bat will open. If it does the problem is half solved. If not get technical support from the company via the contacts page.

If it did open, shut it down again and add all the account folders back in. Does it reopen and are all the account folders looking good? If so shut it down again. Keep adding batches of folders, keeping track of what you are moving back into the mail folder.

At some point the bat may not open. OK you have the last group of folders and one of them is corrupt.

If you get that far, isolate the folders and send me a PM. I have ABC The BAT! converter and it MIGHT get the messages out of the corrupt folder. IF it works it will take about 2 minutes :))

Again if you take all the mail folders and put them on the desktop and the bat still will not open, then this is not the issue

Which version of The Bat! did you use?

If you use The Bat! 3.99.24 under Windows Vista and you have plugins for The Bat! installed (e.g. antivirus, antispam or macro plugins), please try to remove all the plugins and let us know whether the problem still persists.

Hi, thanks for all the suggestion. I am using the latest version 3.99.24.  I tried moving all my email files into another folder and restarting. It works! Troublesome rebuilding all my emails this way but I am glad I got my all my earlier files.

Must be a corrupted email folder in one of my existing files.

Once again - thanks for the help.

Thank you! We have found this problem with accounts and are working on the solution.
