TheBat Unable to connect
 
Hello,

I having problems with connecting to a mail server. The problem appears to be exclusivly with The Bat, as I am able to successfuly connect using Outlook 2003.

Using the Bat, I am able to send via smtp but not receive via pop3. The error I receive is:

" 08/09/2007, 17:58:18: FETCH - receiving mail messages
!08/09/2007, 17:58:21: FETCH - Server reports error. The response is: 220-maple.svr20-speedyservers.com ESMTP Exim 4.66 #1 Sat, 08 Sep 2007 17:58:15 +0100"

As I say this only happens with The Bat and not other mail clients. I can provide any further information if you need it.

That's an odd response, rather smtp-like.
Are you sure that you've configured your pop3 server correctly? My first guess would be that you entered your smtp settings for the pop3 server as well.

Thanks for the response. I have verified my pop/smtp settings and they are correct. For this particular email host the The pop and smtp server settings are identical.

As I have said, this configuration works in other mail clients, but not in The Bat. I am running v 3.99.24.

Try port 110 for the pop3 server.

The port for my mail host is 26. This applies to smtp & pop. I have tried 110, but to no avail.

 
Has your ISP a support site with a FAQ?

Ccan you enable protocol logging both for receiving and sending and post both of them here?
Note that with protocol logging TB also logs the username and the password, you'd better obfuscate those before posting the log.
You can enable protocol logging at:
Account -> Properties -> Transport -> Protocol logging
