| Someone should corroborate this, but I believe you should just install Pro over Home |
No, how hard to understand is:

Unless you want to use the encrypted message base, you simply enter the registration key for the pro version into your existing home config and the pro license is invoked. Both versions use the same executable. |
What this means is that there is NO difference between the Home and Pro version. You only need your Pro serial key to unlock the pro features of the Bat!
The procedure that you, tbaddon, cited, only concerns upgrading to a new version (regardless whether it is Home or Pro).
How to handle encryption if you want it:
You really need to reinstall it for that. Basic settings will be kept since those are written in the registry.
How to proceed:
- Make a backup of your mail folder manually with Winrar or Zip (just for safety reasons)
- Now make a backup of all your accounts, mails, addressbooks and so on via the Bat internal Backupprogram
- Now close the Bat, rename your Mail folder to MailOld or something like that
- start the Bat again and you should be asked whether you want to turn on encryption or not, or if not you can do that via some menu (don'T know exactly since I'm using Voyager).
- now use the Bat internal backup program to play back the backup you did before. Your accounts, mails, addressbokks and so on should now exist again and will be encrypted.
