Problem with using IMAP over SSL, Can't find the option to activate SSL connection

I am currently trying to switch from Thunderbird to TheBat. Our mail server uses SSL encryption (not TLS, in Thunderbird, it only works with SSL, but not TLS).

Unfortunately I can't find where to activate the SSL connection. The connection pull-down menu only offers "Regular", "STARTTLS" & "TLS", but no SSL.

TLS 1.0 is almost identical as SSL 3.1, it has some improvements

check for example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transport_Layer_Security

I understand that it is almost identical (I checked that Wikipedia page before posting my problem), but obviously the differences are big enough so that it won't work with a TLS setting in my case.

I believe the fact that also Thunderbird has both settings (and that in my case only the SSL setting works) supports the claim that extra SSL support (whatever difference that makes inside the application) is necessary.

Found the problem. It turned out that the certificate of the server is wrong (it has multiple domain names, but only one certificate). Fixing that now makes IMAP work.

Is there a way to have TheBat! ignore a wrong certificate?
