Add a word to the dictionary, (with the new version 4.0.0.22)

Hello,

With the new version (4.0.0.22), I cannot add a word the dictionary. The added word remains underlined in red.

Is it a bug of the new version?

In advance, thanks for your reply.

Yes, it's a bug, the next update should correct that.

Hello,

Normally the bug must be fixed with the version 4.0.0.23.

We have now the version 4.0.7 (???) and the problem is not resolved.

When may we hope to have a solution?

Regards.

I have been a happy user of The Bat! for many years and one of my favourite features was that Greek Spell checking had been incorporated (as an add-on I think) at some stage.

This was more than useful to me and it worked just fine.

However this morning I upgraded to version 4.0.2.2 and the ability to select "Greek" in the Languages has been lost  :(

This is a major setback for me and although I installed the Int. Pack for v4.x nothing changed, still no Greek available.

Any help or advice or should I re-install my v3.x

PS: I just upgraded to v4.0.7. and am modifying this post to that effect... Still no Greek Spell Check though.

I've got no Greek dictionary either, but don't dispair, there is a way to get a proper Greek spell checker as TB now supports HunSpell dictionaties.

Close TB
Create a new directory in TB's programdir called Dictionaries
(For a default installation that would be C:\Program Files\ The Bat!\Dictionaries)
Next, browse to http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Dictionaries
and download the Greek spelling file
The downloaded file is a zip file
Extract the zip file to the Dictionaries directory
Start TB
Create a new message
Set the spell check language to Greek

 Roelof thanks a million!

I followed your advice and now have Greek spell checking too.

However, if I may take advantage of your knowledge I have two more questions for you:

In v3.x I had a default dictionary for "Add to dictionary" named UserDic.tlx. Now, when I spell-check I tried to do the same as always but I got an unable to add message.

I click "Dictionary to add to" and the options are:

SSCE\accent.tlx
SSCE\correct.tlx
SSCE\UserDic.tlx

and the two default US and UK English dictionaries (Sscream and SSCEBR.tlx)

Strangely enough UserDic.tlx is only 200 bytes so I guess that in upgrading it was overwritten  :(

OK, I can live with that but which dictionary should I be adding to (I am referring to Greek words)?

And a 2nd question:

I right-click on an "unknown" word and then > Options. The Hunspell tab has everything greyed out so I can not set any options there. Is taht how it should be or have I missed something somewhere?

I am really taking advantage of your help so a no answer would be OK as you have already helped me before.

Select UserDic.tlx, but save your troubles for the time being, because due to a bug youy can't add words in the current version.

> I right-click on an "unknown" word and then > Options. The Hunspell tab has everything greyed out

It's not working yet. Nothing to worry about.

OK... I'll just wait till the bugs are straightened out and the rest of the features are working then.

BUT if the upgrading process is going to overwrite  UserDic.tlx then I think RitLabs should look into this (maybe back-up the existing UserDic.tlx file?).

Just saying this in the hope that RIT may consider the possibility.  :D

Thanks for the help!

So far so good

When will we get the update to solve this bug?

I changed back to the older version

Hello,

With the new version (4.0.0.22), I cannot add a word the dictionary.

The bug is not corrected with the last version (4.0.14).

It is annoying.

Hello,

Up.

I clarify that this bug is not corrected with the version 4.0.14.

When is the correction planned?

Thanks for your reply.

Having gone back to good old TB 3.99.29 every time after trying out various versions of TB 4.x I am now playing with the idea of giving the latest version (The Bat! v4.0.38 Pro) a try.

I have had to go back to 3.x because either:
- the Greek language/spell check was not functioning OR
- I could not save words to the Users dictionary OR
- I was getting too many crashes (application crash, thread errors etc etc).

Before trying out The Bat! v4.0.38 Pro I would like to ask if this version supports Greek language spelling and if the problems mentioned in the previous messages have been resolved.

Any advice will be appreciated  :D
