HELP, Names disappeared, Having problems with Address Book View

When I wanted to widen a column in the address book today, it suddenly disappeared. Trying to move other columns made them disappear as well.

And now I am stuck.. I can right click on the Add.book HEADER and 'add' columns via the menu, but First Name and Last name are NOT among the 'Available items' on the left.

What am I doing wrong !!???

Perhaps more clearly put:

Name, First Name and Last Name can NOT be added to 'Columns' anymore. They ARE still part of the database because they show just fine when 'hovering' over the email address in the Address Book view list !

The only thing I can think of is to close TB and to delete the file tbuser.def in your mail directory.

Nope, didn't work. Somehow the 'Name' field is not recognized anymore in the clolumns list.

I backed up and reloaded my messages and folders into an older version of TheBat, and all is well.

I am having other problems too with 4.0.14.... I think it is not ready for prime time yet  ;)

Just a wild hunch ...
"Name" is a default - it shows but can't be added or taken away via the right click list

Check and see if by widening one column you didn't push it to the far left - next to the gender icon thus "hiding" it. It may be still there

Rick, you are BRILLIANT! I feelreally dumb now, with 35+ years of IT experience..... that was IT !

Just to make you grin... I de-installed Version 4, reloaded version 3.99... and it still didn't show.... so something must be stored in the mail directory too :-)

Anyway, I can ,ail again.
