I leave a copy on the server so my co-worker can read them. But after I retrieve the emails, the messages left on the server are marked as read. How can they be left as unread? 8) itsanogo

I use The Bat! to read the emails, making sure to leave a copy on the server and my co-worker uses Horde (webmail) to read those same emails. After I retrieve them, they are left as read messages in Horde and we need The Bat! to retrieve them but leave them as unread. itsanogo

It is possible, see what mail config options are available in your account control panel, or ask the support of your hosting company.
