4.018 doesn't keep its window positions

Actually, 4.0.16 didn't either.

I run The Bat! maximised, but it occasionally starts up in a small window. Also, I have the window split vertically, with the accounts to the left and email list to the right, and read and reply windows opening maximised. The divider between the accounts window and the email list is always to the left on startup, covering the totals common.

Another problem I have, and this goes back well into the v3.0 series, is that sometimes, when replying, the first word will show as a clickable link, plus, if quoting and replying, my typing will take on the same font properties as the quoted text. Inserting a couple of blank lines before replying stops this behaviour.

All are just mildly annoying problems, and a search of the forum doesn't find anything, so I wondered if anyone else had seen this behaviour and managed to do anything about it.

install 4.0.20 and let us know, if You have still a problem.

So far it has remembered window positions. The problem with fonts hasn't shown up yet, though that is an intermittent one and may not happen for days.

Thanks.

I finally figured out why TB doesn't keep it's window settings sometimes. It has to do with it getting shut down by the computer, such as when a program installation behaves badly and reboots without asking.

For example, I have the TB window split mode set to full height account tree, and with message auto-view switched off. Now, if I close TB using any of the ways built into the program, then it restarts with the same window setting. However, if the program is closed by a Windows close down, on restart the message auto-view is back and the message list window is reduced in width. As I have TB minimised to the system tray, I sometimes forget to close it down before closing Windows down, so I have to adjust windows again when it restarts.

Reproducable on Vista and XP with TB 4.0.38 and probably most preceding versions. I assume this happens because TB saves its settings on closing. One way around it is to make any changes, then close and restart TB, then it is OK.... until next time. :)

I had a problem where The Bat would not keep my Windows Split Mode.  I would set the panels, but they would change back.  I made the problem go away by changing the display settings for my screen saver.  I had one setting for Windows, but I had my screen saver on a different setting. (one was 800x600, the other 1024x768 as an example).   Every time the screen saver activated, it did so at a different display setting.  When it turned off it went back to my regular setting, but in doing so, reset The Bat panels.  If you are having a problem getting the panels to stay as you set them, think if you have an application using a different display setting.  Set it the same as your main display setting and see if the problem goes away.

Good Luck
