Pasting multiple attachments?, Inserting attachments into messages

Hi all,

Quick question regarding attachments - apart from 1) the drag and drop method, 2) the Utilities->attach files method, and 3) the "right click->send to" method of attaching a file to a message, is there any way to "cut and paste" multiple files into a message?

The reason I ask this is because when I use Outlook (or when I used Eudora, back in the day) I find it fast and convenient to be able to start a message, switch to a file folder window that I have open, select multiple files, copy them using the keyboard shortcut, and switch back to my message and paste them in as attachments

The drag-'n-drop method has the disadvantage of requiring both windows to be displayed on the screen together, while the right-click-send-to method creates a new message (doesn't insert into an existing message I'm creating).  And I'm not enamored of using the Utilities drop-down menu.

Any hints or tips?  Thanks in advance.

The cpy and paste method you describe for Outlook and Eudora works for TB too. (I'm running the most recent beta withe Wiondows Vista.)

Hm, that's interesting - because the copy and paste doesn't work for me.

Also, just discovered some more unusual activity - something about creating a new message or editing a message disables the copy and paste in the general Windows environment.

Copy and Paste works OK even after starting The Bat!, but as soon as I create a new message, copy and paste no longer works *anywhere external to The Bat!* - I cannot cut, copy and paste in other active windows.  Cutting, copying and pasting messages within The Bat! still works OK however.

Even after the "Edit Mail Message" window is closed, cut/copy and paste functionality in the environment outside of The Bat! is still non-functional.  Only closing The Bat! restores this functionality.

Any ideas on what's happening?  I'm running Windows XP SP3 (this problem was also encountered with Windows XP SP2), and The Bat! 4.0.24, Home edition, registered.

Thanks.

That's odd behaviour and something I've never heard of before.

Is it only copy & paste with hotkeys that's disabled whem TB is running, or also when you select it from the menu or (when available) from the right mouse button context menu?

Just did some more experimentation.

1.  Copy & Paste does not work within TB using both hotkeys and using the right-click context menu (paste is greyed out).

2.  Copy & Paster external to TB now works again (I did a reboot, that solved that).

3.  However, rebooting does nothing to solve the issue of being unable to copy and paste directly into a new message in TB

4.  Let me repeat - drag and drop method, Utilities context menu->attach file, and right-click-send-to all work OK.

5.  I have Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 running, with the anti-spam and anti-virus plugins.  Tried turning KIS off by removing the plug-ins, also tried disabling virus and spam protection, even turned KIS completely off, no change.

6.  Tried rebooting in Safe Mode with networking, still unable to copy and paste into new messages.

I'm going to try an uninstall and reinstall of TB to see if I can get it to work.  This is annoying.

Actually that's not true. You can drag files over the minimized message in the task bar. When the mouse comes over it, Windows will restore the message window and you can drop files inside (btw this is not only for theBat, it works the same way in any app where you can drop something). I do it this way.

Thanks bigg one - that's a fairly elegant workaround that I wasn't aware of.  I'll use that for now.  In the meantime, my beloved hotkeys will be unused...
