About forwarded messages

I was told that by default the forwarded messages should be copied to Sent mail folder after forwarding.
However when I forward a message it is not copied to Sent mails.

What should I set in The Bat to make it work this way?

Thank you in advance for any help!

maybe the message is filtered to another folder? Search for the message in all the folders.

When I forward a message it goes to Sent folder, and I don't see any setting that defines what to do with forwarded messages.

Thank you for your reply!

Yes, everyone says it works as you wrote. Anyway if I forward a message from inbox, nothing happens, except the color of the small icon of the message changes.

I use TB 3.62 at home, TB 4 at office, Voyager on an external HDD, and each works like this, i.e. the forwarded messages stay in Inbox folder.

There must be a reason for this...

The changing icon means that it has been forwarded, when you check you'll see that messages that have been forwarded get another icon and so do messages that have been replied to.

BTW When you forward a message, the original message stays in the original lcation, the forwarded copy is handled as a new message and will end up in Sent Mail or will be filtered into another folder.

Yes I know, that the forwarded messages should be copied to sent mail folder, and the original stay where they were. This is what I wrote in my first post.

Everyone says it is not possible to set in Bat where the forwarded messages should be copied. Anyway there must be another setting that has impact on this.

Unfortunatelly I don't know which setting is that, therefore any help would be appreciated!

A few minutes later.

Excuse me for causing any inconveniences, but you were right.
A few month ago I set a filter, that filtered the forwarded messages to a new folder, and I've forgotten about it. I've disabled this filter now, and everything is OK.

If I understand you correctly, the forward can't be found in Sent Mail.
There is no setting in TB that moves a forward to an alternate location. However it is possible that you created an Outgoing filter that moves certain messages to an alternate location nad it is also possible that your forwarded messages meet the condition for that filter.

The best way to check that is by looking into your account log, it is supposed to tell what messages are filtered. You can find the account log in the menu via:
account -> view log

That's absolutely true. As I wrote at the end of my last post, a filter that I set earlier, caused the problem.
Anyway thanks for your help.

However I have one more question: is it possible to create a new Tab for the forwarded messages called "Forwarded"? It would be much easier to collect forwarded messages this way.

Yep, I noticed that you had edited your message while I was writing mine. :-)
I'm not sure what you mean with a 'tab', do you mean a folder tab or a message list tab?
The latter should be easy, I can't find out how to do the first.

I try to explain what I meant by "tab".

Right clicking a message you can give 'Flags' to the message. One of the 'Flags' called: Forwarded/Redirected. If I check this option the colour of the small icon changes. It's OK, but it would be much better if I could create a new tab like 'All' 'Unread' 'Flagged' etc. called 'Forwarded' and switching to this Forwarded tab the forwarded messages could only be seen.

In other words I mean by 'Tab' the narrow horizontal strip in the middle of the message pane that you can right click on and a pop up menu appears 'Manage tabs'

It would be fine, if the messages flagged as Forwarded/Redirected could appear here...

That's a message list tab.
It's easy to create one of those, but first you've got to create a matching view mode.
Options -> Preferences -> View modes -> New
Name: Forwarded
Switch to the Filter tab, enable filter and set that to: Message attributes is forwarded
Press OK
Now you've got a view mode called forwarded that only shows forwarded messages.
Next thing is to create a new tab and associate that tab with the view mode forwarded.

It's great! :-)
That was what I was looking for:!:

The Bat is fantastic, if only I knew it better...

Thank you very much!  :)
