Relay not permitted, Cannot send emails with my new ISP

Hi to everybody.

I have recently changed my ISP and have discovered that the new one blocks e-mails sent to port 25 (I use Yahoo, so I need them). I found that I can use it if I start the seesion with my ISP account (or something similar), here is the tutorial for Outlook xpress, in Spanish.

http://ayuda.orange.es/internet/correo_electronico/solucion_de_error_en_envios_de_correos/aviso_para_clientes_con_cuentas_no_orange/313.html

Well, I can do this with Outlook and with Thunderbird, but when I try to do the same with thebat!, I only receive the message "!19/11/2008, 23:51:33: SEND  - El mensaje no ha sido enviado. La respuesta del servidor es - Ha de activar la autentificacion / Relay not permitted" (I have to turn on autentication).

I fill SMTP "Transport" with the data from my ISP and in Authentication, fill "use specific settings", turn on and off "Require secure autentication", but nothing works.

Sorry, if I haven't explained everything right, but I will really appreciate any help (I'm plannig to move to Thunderbird, but I will lose all my filters).

Thank you again.

It appears to be rather straightforward, though my Spanish is non existent:
Set the smtp server to hsmtp.orange.es and the port to 587
(You're connecting via orange, aren't you?)
For authentication you check 'use specific settings' and set those setting to your orange settings.
Don't enable 'require secure authentication' as you don't need that.

As I don't have a proper Yahoo account, I can't access their help pages, but generally speaking these kind of services offer access to an alternative port in order to to prevent problems with a blocked port 25.

Hi again.

Thank you very much for your help. Yes, it seems very easy (I was able to do that with outlook and Thunderbird), but it didn't work. Anyway, your second advice worked. Yahoo lets you use the port 587, so I just changed the 25 with a pretty 587 and I can keep my batmail working again. :D

So the problem is solved. Thank you again for your interest. I'll pay you a beer if you happen to be in Spain (well... Salamanca). ;)
