can't set default email program.. please help

Somehow my system has lost the default email program. When I try sending email from ie explorer I get 60-70 explorer windows opened all at once. I have used the default program set in Vista. Uninstalled the bat pro. Reinstalled, 4.1.7 I give up. I don't know what to do.

I think computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto is the problem. data has no value set

Command has C:\PROGRAM FILES\The Bat!\thebat.exe "%1

open Internet Explorer properties, there is mail program setting there.

Select OE or other app, save this, reopen dialog and check TB again.

by properties, do you mean tools, internet options. If so, been there done that 8 or 10 times. Makes know difference.
