Switching from Dial-up to Verizon DSL--Problems

Just switched ISP's--went from dialup to DSL (Verizon) and am having trouble getting TheBat to work with Verizon. It won't connect to my Verizon accounts even after entering the different pop setting.

Must I re-install?
I can't even get my old dialup (Prodigy) accounts to connect now when I'm on the new service.

Anyone else using Verizon and TheBat?

Dale - I am going to say "no" it isn't a problem with the bat but MOST LIKELY different settings with the new provider. I would have no idea what they would be but you may be able to get them from the Verizon help desk or web page

Oh, I know it's not a problem with TheBat--just asking other Verizon subscribers what the trick is.
I'm using Verizon's POP setting and no luck.

That you cannot access your oldaccounts isn't that strange, that's likely to be soime setting of your previous ISP that doesn't allow access from other ISP's.

I checked the Verizon help pages and those settings seem rather straightforward. You mention trouble with using Verizon, when are you experiencing problems? With sending or receiving and what error do you get?

I'm getting the error message:

"Could not Dial the entry Prodigy Pottstown. Please check dialup networking settings and try again."

Prodigy Pottstown is my dialup setting I had been using with my old dialup service. Since I'm not with DSL (Verizon), I'll have to change that, of course.
Where is the dialup networking settings in Windows XP?

It's been a while that used dial-up, but I think you need to correct that in TB at:
Options -> Network & Administration -> Network
Set that to 'Local Area Network or manual connection'

That did the trick and now I can receive email.

Now, I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong because I cannot send email. I'm getting the
"server reports error;the response is: unimplemented #5.5.1.

I'm using outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net (as Verizon suggests),
secure to regular port , port 587.
I tried all three in the "connection" drop box and no luck.

Dale, using The Bat 4.07

Okay, here's the solution for any future Verizon and TheBat! users:

Be sure to set the port to 25, connection: regular.

Thanks- Dale
