Can't delete emails from The Bat

hi

when I try to delete an email in The Bat I get a message that the Trash is about to reach 2GB and I should empty it or movie messages to smaller folder. The thing is that the Trash is empty, the windows Trash is also empty.
The issue happens with both accounts I have setup in TheBat. Can anyone help?

right click Trash and select 'Compress'

Or better do that for all folders from time to time
Folder -> Maintanence Center -> check Compress and proceed.

When you delete a message, the only thing that actually happens is that it becomes invisible - it's marked as deleted, but not actually deleted from the message base. To really delete deleted messages, compress.

Good advice! I run folder maintenance every night.

If you have never run it, go get a cup of coffee as it is going to run through all your folders and compress and fix them as needed  :)

I do compression every time I close Bat but for some reasen the Tash folder must not have been compressed

that's trully strange. Maybe a bug in the particular version you're using. Or the folder is not set to be compressed on exit (I think compression on exit is by default only enabled for Inbox, but not sure. You can check Trash Properties. If you compress through Maintanence Center, folder setting doesn't matter)

Anyway, you can wipe the trash manually, as follows:
Open your mail folder with Windows Explorer(if you don't know where it is,
Options -> Preferences -> System - see Mail directory)
Inside, there should be a folder for each account you have in theBat. In each account folder, there are folders named like the folders you have in the account. Go to Trash folder, and delete the files messages.tbb and messages.tbi
Before deletion, close theBat.

When the trash is emptied on exit
(Account -> Properties -> Options -> Empty trash folder on exit)
the folder should be compressed automatically.
If that doesn't happen then something is wrong, that could be a corrupted message base for the trash or even message with a virus so your virus scanner won't allow TB to access the file.

The proper cure would be as bigg one says.
