Common folder has some bugs., Auto-refresh, mark as read issues.

I have a common folder that I've created.  All it does is search all the accounts and only display those messages that are 2-days old or newer.
I have auto-refresh selected, and store state between sessions unselected.

basically, i want it to always be up to date, which is why i have auto-refresh selected.  But I leave the program open for weeks at a time, and no matter what options I select, it always shows all the new messages since the session began, not just the ones from the last two days.

The other problem i have is that on all my accounts I have the setting for mark message as read set to 0 seconds.  This is so that as soon as I click on a message to preview, it immediately gets marked as read.  However, for the common folder, it doesn't respect any of those settings and always takes a couple of seconds to be marked as read.]

I should mention that my common folder is physically located in the root of my accounts tree.  That is, it is not a child folder of any account, it is on it's own level.

I guess you mean you've got a "common virtual folder", currently there are issues mentioned on the beta list with regard to virtual folders and the need to refresh them manually, your problem might be related.

The other item:
Select your common folder and pick the account properties from the menu and change the time to zero seconds there too.

Re: common virtual folder time issue, thank you.  I wasn't aware of that.

is there a list of beta issues i can read?  I'll check to see if my problem is listed.  Thanks.

Fourteen years later - landed here after searching for auto refresh.  I've got a common folder to gather the junk mail from all my accounts into one place.  I too leave The Bat! running 24/7 and just noticed today that several accounts had junk mail in them but nothing in the common folder.  As soon as I clicked on the Junk folder IN the actual account, the common folder was updated.  I then exited and restarted The Bat! and then the remaining accounts with Junk mail showed up in the common folder.  Given the time necessary to encounter this scenario it's probably impossible to debug.  I guess I'll just make a habit of shutting The Bat! down each day.

Yeah, if you let any computer system run for a long time strange things are bound to start happening. There is a very slim but non-zero chance for a bit to get flipped somewhere in memory, and even bug-free programs can have problems. So restarting from time to time is always a good idea.

I don't think your scenario would be hard to reproduce for the developers. It looks like the common virtual folder just isn't being updated often enough, or not every time that new mail arrives in the folders that it watches. If you have a moment, please report it to the developers using the Support menu at the top of the page.
