Im using 4.2.4 version of The Bat! Professional.

I am getting an error message whenever i try to send an email.

Here is the error message:

!7/14/2009, 16:27:31: SEND  - Server reports it is not ready, reply: "my.domain.com ESMTP"

Hello

Can any one release a bug fix for 4.2.6

Could you enable protocol logging for the problematic account (account -> properties -> transport-> protocol logging -> sending protocol : enable logging)
Try to send a message and post the resulting log on the forum.
Take care that if you send passwords to your server, they will be displayed in plain text in ther log file, so you'd better delete those.

The problem is with all my accounts, I cannot send email through any of them. But I receive emails fine.

I tried to check through Thunderbird, my accounts worked fine while sending emails. I even contacted my web host and they also tested my account. They said that everything is working from their side as well.

So the only problem was with The Bat! Client

Thank you for replying.

I will follow the steps you outlined and post back the results.

Here is the result from the Log

I would like to mention that I can send my emails through Thunderbird, and they work fine. the only problem is with the Bat! Client

That's a rather long time between the connection and the first response of the server.
You could try whether it helps to set the server timeout to a higher value, IIRC the default is 60 seconds.
You can change that at:
account -> properties -> transport -> server timeout

It's an account specific setting, so you need to change it for every account.

And when you're done with testing, you might want to disable the protocol logging again, as it grows with every message that you send (including the contents of those messages) and the size cannot be mimited via some setting.

Hello Roelof

I changed the timeout from 60 secs to 120 secs and the email did went through.

Thanks for the solution. But why am i having this problem ?

Just guessing:
Problems between firewall/virus scanner and The Bat!
Slow connection with the net.

It's possible that other clients have the same slow response time, but that their defalt time out setting is higher.
