Inbox is full, how to re-index the inbox

I got a problem with my inbox: I received a warning that my inbox is getting close to 2 GB.

So I deleted and moved almost everything to other folders. Didn't help. I keep getting this warning. Then I moved everything from the inbox. There isn't anything in it. But I still get the warning, and my mail remains on the server.

What can I do to solve this problem?
