Restoring Single Emails, How to use TB Backup Utility to Restore Individual Emails?

I have had The Bat! for about 8 years -- from version 1.x

I noticed a year or two ago that, all of a sudden, several years of emails disappeared (oldest dated emails).  I am building a new system and I finally need access to those emails (some of them have important information) and I then I thought: I have an old backup that should have the older emails.

How do I restore ONLY individual emails, not whole folders?

Thanks!

You cannot restore single emails from TB's backups, however you can restore a folder, sel ect the emails you want to restore and delete the rest.
Don't restore to a folder that contains messages, because that will cause those messages to be overwritten.

Note that TB 4.1 and higher doesn't support backups from lower versions due to a change in the message base format.

In case your older backups aren't made by TB, but via an external tool, you can import fr om the messages.tbb file without problems.

Okay, I have the backups from version v3 or even v2 -- can I install the bat on another machine using an older version and then copy individual emails to the other machine, or would I need to update the v3 installation to v4 AFTER doing a restore with the old emails?  Then I could do a backup and then copy that file to the main machine and then restore them to a separate folder (I didn't know that you can restore to a folder that doesn't exist until you name it in the restore process).

Does this sound like it would work?

Thanks!

Yep

My very old version of the bat 1.4? just disappeared. I see all the files, but there is no program in the control panel. When I click on the shortcut, it hangs. I would like to upgrade to the latest version, but I don't want to lose my files and settings. I tried to reinstall the old version, but it didn't take. Do you know what might have happened and if I can restore it?
