Import Filters or create filters outside TB, Migration from Pegasus Mail

I have been using Pegasus Mail for 15 years, and my mailbox is quite large, and especially, I make use of an extensive set of filters.

Because of some long standing quirks in the way Pegasus displays the Subject header (it truncates the Subject), I have finally decided to try some alternatives.

I like Outlook, I can't figure out Thunderbird (it seems back to front), and I believe I could live with The Bat, although I much prefer Pegasus Mail Folder structure which are independent of "accounts" and the fact that each Pegasus "identity" can download from a number of POP3 servers and not just one, but hey...

So, to cut it short. My main hurdle at the moment is the filtering system.

Having to create filters one by one with the mouse appears to be a major task.

Is there a way I can "hack" some file and create the filters by typing them directly?

No, you cannot type them yourself. Or I should say, you won't gain any time with that, because even though TB can import filters from text files, those texts aren't very comprehensible.

There are two ways to create a filter.
1) Via the sorting office:
Account -> Sorting Office/Filters -> File -> New filter
2) Via a message
Select a message -> (in the menu) Specials -> Create Filter

The second method can be used to create a filter specifically for the type of message that you've got selected at the moment

I prefer the first method. That can be used to create more general filters. My favorite type of filter is address book based and uses conditions like address book group 'something'  contains 'sender and all recipients'

AFAYK, is the filter syntax documented?

Or alternatively, if I create a few basic filters using the Sorting Office, would you know where where they would be stored?

Although it's been a long time since I last had to do it, I am not totally alien to programming.

Of course, if the "hacking" method is too complicated, I'll do it via the Sorting Office. I just wanted to avoid entering about 250 lines of filters using a mouse :-)
