Moving Mail directory ruins the link to attachments

Hi,
I moved my mail directory to a safer place, but now the link to attachments from previous messages (which are saved apart from the message) is no longer valid.
How to restore the links?
Ron

Restore a backup

Restoring a backup will put the files just where I don't want them.
Originally the mail directory was on drive C.
For safety reasons (like a crash of Windows, which was what made me move the directory on the new hard disk) I want the mail directory in a different directory than before the crash.

So the question is, how to move a mial directory and updating automaticly the links to the attachments of the existing emails to the new directory?

Ron

It should be possible to restore to a different mail directory.
Just run a test.
Create an extra shortcut to TB on your desktop.
Set the target for that shortcut to: "C:\Program Files\The Bat!\thebat.exe" "/Reg:test"
Run that shortcut.
TB will act like it has never been started before and it'll ask for a mail directory, set one on the dri9ve of your preference. Next restore a backup.
If that's satisfactory do so for your real configuration.

Hi,

Did it.
Still the links to the attachments are wrong and point to the previous mail dirrectory.
Maybe I have to use a bacup from the time the original directory was used?
But I'm not sure I have one. And if so, a lot of new messages will be gone, since the server doesn't save messages once retrieved!

What do you think?

Yes, you need a backup from when the links still were right.
About missing messages, because you'll have two message bases during your test phase, you can copy the new messages to your test message base.
When you're about to cofigurate your fixed reguluar TB instance, you backup your test message base and restore that to your permanent base. That should cover the messages you got in between.
I hope it hasn't been too long ago, because that would mean you've got a real load of messages to transfer.
