v9.3.4.was released today and it addresses many HTML-related problems in earlier versions.

That's only understandable. I think that a large overhaul was overdue for The Bat though (after 20+ years in service in a very dynamic enviroment, the internet, and on an ever changing platform, Windows) and Ritlabs' new management decided to give it a shot (whereas previously, only minor improvements and trivialities were still being implemented). Kudos to them for that. Now, with multiple major sections of code that need a rewrite, it's probably inevitable that they work on several of those at the same time due to functional overlap and interconnectedness (e.g between the message editor, image downloader/caching, html viewing, templates). That makes it much harder to get all the little details right than when you can work on one section at a time. So, they're breaking eggs all right, but I'm confident that we will have a great omelet once they're finished, one that will hopefully last us another 20 years. Until then, I will be staying out of the kitchen though..

Wouldn't it be better to have both? Implemented so, that when you press 'download images for this message', there is an option to save it as a rule for this sender and/or this domain?

Sigh! I was hoping that one of you HTML-loving v9-users would do so. But no, it's always poor old Danny boy who has to do the hard work around here.. Anyway, consider it done!

I understand your frustration. I am ready to jump ship with TB after being a faithful user for over 15 years. I was very sad to see Barca Pro (Poco Mail) leave the scene. I loved that program. And, they had a calendar! TB has been very disappointing and terribly frustrating. Bug Ridden Software for sure. You would think they would hire some professional programmers who knew how to program. Very Sad. |
