Importing e-mail from outlook 365 and storing messages offline, Trying to duplicate my existing configuration

Hi all,

I am evaluating The Bat to determine if it meets my needs. I am using outlook 365.

I have a primary *.pst file where I store all my e-mail and some e-mail  is also moved to it from an imap account via filters.
I have setup my primary e-mail account but cannot understand how to import messages from outlook.

Yes, tools > import does detect the data files but will it put  the  messages into my primary e-mail account or somewhere else?

I did check this forum and one suggestion I have seen is to create a dummy account. I can do that but cannot figure out how to import my messages to that specific account.

Note:
I am blind and consequently a screen reader user, therefore, when responding, please do not use any screen shots. Please give me the text label of the options I need to click or paraphrase what the option does so that I can check the dialogue box.

Is there a way to import message rules as well into The Bat from outlook?

Hi Pranav, and welcome!  I'm sorry that no one has been able to answer your questions. I guess that Outlook just isn't a very popular email client here.. :-)

There was a smiley face at the end of that line. Does the speech reader recognize smiley faces? :-)

When I import messages from a file in Unix .mbox format, they are simply stored in the folder that was active when I issued the 'Import' command.
So, if Outlook can export messages to the Unix .mbox format, that might allow you to import them into The Bat in a predictable manner.

I do not know what happens when you use the Mailbox Import Wizard to import messages from .PST files. If you are not using The Bat 'for real' yet, maybe you can just give it a try, and hopefully it will not create a mess.

If I understand the online help about 'Data Import' correctly, the Mailbox Import Wizard will only import messages, not contacts or message rules.
Contacts can be imported separately in the Address Book itself.

The URL for the online help about "Data Import" is: https://www.ritlabs.com/en/support/help/61/#6562

I have probably told you nothing new with this reply. Hopefully someone who knows more about this subject will still respond to your questions. However, this is only a user-to-user forum. If you would like an answer from the Ritlabs support technicians, you can use the Support menu at the top of the page to open a support ticket.

Best regards,
Daniel
