I am a registered user of TB Pro and am currently using version The Bat! 4.2.12. 2 Pro which I am very happy with as I no longer get crashes etc.
Today I came across a mention of "The Bat! 4.2.12.3 Pro" with a download link at . ./thebat_pro_4-2-12.msi
The filename is the same as the previous version but the date is today's date so I downloaded it from ritlabs regarding it as a newer version - even though TB did not show a new version available when I checked (from the Help menu).
However, when I tried to install the new version I got a message that the installed version needs to be uninstalled from the Add/remove function in the Control Panel if I want to install the new version.
My questions are:
What is problem here? Why can't I simply upgrade the installed version?
I see no mention of my settings being retained if I install the new version and if I am to reconfigure everything from point zero then what is the point of upgrading?
This is all very weird and I wouldn't even think of trying to upgrade if the new version was not from the RitLabs site!
Obviously I am not going to risk an upgrade if I have am not certain that my previous settings will be saved but I am wondering what will happen with the NEXT new version. Will I be asked to uninstall my existing version again?
